Ali is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily in photo and video. She is interested in intra-group socialization as it pertains to the many subgroups of youth cultures, the spaces they inhabit, how they divide themselves out, and what sort of creative outputs they use to form their identities. As a deeply self-conscious photographer though she is also interested in the role of documentation in personal relationships and the politics of being a photographer of personal life. Above all, Ali is interested in the place of sincerity (or the lack thereof) in art. She grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, and is currently living and working in Philadelphia after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Fine Arts in 2016.
