Post-Humanities

The Post-Humanities are anti-utopian disciplines concerned with the radical mutability of human beings. When our understanding of "nature" is challenged by the escalating syntheses of biological and digital, our grasp on human nature is likewise undermined. We are therefore in need of new methods for navigating these unstable landscapes of being.

Post-humanists do not take to be certain the primacy of humankind over coexistent forms of matter, nor do they take for granted the impermanence of the human species. Post-humantities are not empirical modes of inquiry, but rather prioritize expression over definition, employing mystic and science-fictional techniques. The works presented here anticipate an evolution of the human species, asking, "What remains when we step outside the specifics of the present - of personal identity, gender, race, species?"
