Creative Resilient Youth Takeover

Join Creative Resilient Youth (CRY) for a weekend of art and events that explore and celebrate self-expression, vulnerability, and lived experiences. Over the past five months, seven Philly teens have to come together to respond to gaps in intergenerational dialogue and the lack of mental health care resources in schools.

Opening Night
Friday 5/10 - 6-9pm

Gallery Hours/Artist Talks
Saturday 5/11 - 3-6pm

Closing Ceremony/Panel Discussion
Sunday 5/12 - 6-9pm

Through weekly meetings at Slought Foundation and Culture Work, teens worked with their peers and Creative Resilient Collective adult facilitators to develop personal and collective projects. Each meeting enabled creative exchange, collective consensus building, and individual reflection. The program centered community organizing and project management skills required to work socially on a complex topic, while making public art pieces.

CRY teens will hold their culminating exhibition on May 10-12, 2019 at Little Berlin Annex Gallery. Follow their work on Instagram: www.instagram.com/cry.creativeresco/

Initiated by the Creative Resilience Collective, CRY is supported by Slought and the Velocity Fund–a re-granting initiative of the Andy Warhol Foundation administered in Philadelphia by Tyler School of Art at Temple University.
