Fair Grounds Project Kickoff

Philly Spring Clean-up was an amazing success! Emerald Street Urban Farm and little berlin want to send our sincerest thanks to the amazing group of Volunteers that came out to help kickoff the project. We had 20 people come out throghout the day and we removed over 30 bags of trash and debris from the empty lot.

Viking Mill donated a stack of used wood palettes that we used to construct a temporary delineation on the Boston Street side, to ward off dumpers and vehicle traffic through the lot.

East Kensington Art + Food Garden Project

Viking Mill, little berlin and Emerald St Urban Farm aim to create a community creative art space complete with a berry patch, herb spiral and ornamental flower garden on a vacant lot in the neighborhood of East Kensington in Philadelphia. In addition to transforming an unused lot into a beautiful place it will serve as a resource for community events, fleas markets and ‘pick your own’ harvests of fresh produce. Most importantly it will be a positive space that will bring the neighborhood together through art and food!

The collaborative efforts of Emerald St. Urban Farm, little berlin and the Viking Mill will contribute to the expansion of each organization’s mission by further building upon our relationship between Philadelphia’s active, creative community and the neighborhood around us.
